Funny Drinks

LD

Proprietary fortified wine sold in establishments favoured by the heavier drinkers. The full name is 'Eldorado' and was alleged to be available in either 'Rich White' or 'Old Tawny' commonly known as dark and clear. They looked the same but Rich White was slightly easier to stomach. Now only available as Rich White but unlabelled. A Cypriot 'sherry' that other sherries refuse to talk to because of its bad reputation. It was the immediate predecessor of Buckfast Tonic Wine as the choice for the al fresco drinkers of all ages. Excellent as a breakfast wine or as a lunch replacement.
