It is TOTALLY TRUE. it is on the list of phobias at www.phobialist.com. Which is a completely true site. Look through, there are all sorts of bizarre phobias... (lachanophobia, fear of vegetables...)

thats how you say it? i believe it! so ironic tho...hehe

Whilst it is technically true, in actual fact you can use the original word sesquipedaliophobia (or sesquipedalophobia), derived from the word "sesquipedalian" (which essentially means long-winded). The hippopoto and monstro parts are an unneccessary addition, probably designed to bum-out anyone with the condition. And I should like to correct the pronunciation given above: it is actually more like hip-oh-pot-oh-mon-stro-ses-qui-ped-ay-lee-oh-foe-bee-ah

eViLegion | January 22, 2008

danielle | February 12, 2008

All of the sudden...I'm... scared of long words. I can't even say that word, it's too scary!

sara | February 20, 2008

Who ever invented this word must have been a bloody sadist... I mean, imagine you're a doctor and you've gotta tell the poor sod who has been dyagnosed with this, that he's got a phobia that has 15 sylables in its name...

Edward Weldon | March 2, 2008

i have to agree with sara. just looking at that word is making me more and more scared of long words

john smith | March 19, 2008
