Instead of calling a bus a bus, New Yorkers from the Upper East Side call their transportation to and from the Hamptons a jitney.

Back in the day, these small buses ran all through Atlantic City, New Jersey and they were one of the cheapest ways to get around... If you didn't mind getting beaten up and seasick at the same time, that is. Most Jitneys had no shocks, and gasoline fumes added quite a flair to their ambience! LOL!
